If you need to make the same changes to multiple files—such as changing filenames or resizing images—or archive or back up important files, you can create a custom workflow and have your Mac do the work for you.

Script your own actions
If the task you need to automate isn’t in the list of built-in actions, you can add your own scripts, such as AppleScript and JavaScript scripts, and shell commands to your workflow.
Simply add the appropriate run script action to your workflow and enter your script code or shell commands.

(to open ‘applications’) –>
(open “automator” (in the ‘applications’ folder))
(i prefer opening from ‘finder’ over opening from ‘dock’)
(‘seems’ faster to me)
(select ‘application’ from the ‘automator home window’)
(click ‘choose’)
(select “FILES AND FOLDERS”from the ‘library list’ on the left side of window)
(select “GET SPECIFIED FINDER ITEMS” from the ‘middle panel list’ and drag to the panel on the right)
(click ‘ADD…’ button to add an ‘application’ or ‘folder’ to the list of ‘finder items’)
(add as many as you want for this ‘workflow’)
(just don’t add ‘default browser’)
(in my case ‘google chrome’)
(from the left ‘library’ pane, drag the ‘OPEN FINDER ITEMS’ over your ‘workflow’ on the right and drop it)
(click “RUN” button at the ‘top right corner’ of the ‘automator window’)
(after verifying that the ‘workflow’ is operating correctly, go to ‘file’ –> ‘save’ and select where you want to save this “.APP” file)
(i prefer saving it to the ‘desktop’)
(then you can open the icon normally to launch the ‘workflow’)
