in my high school bands, the other members couldn’t sing very well…
george li wrote a few songs and we let him sing them…
i wasn’t such a great singer myself (unless it was a 12-bar blues)…
and so anthony alapatt and jon birkhead decided that they wanted to become the “frontmen” for a change…
on a goofy linkin park cover called “papercut”…
i should’ve drawn the line right there but i was too distracted with other matters…
in my college bands, the other members couldn’t sing very well either…
only nick cetrulo contributed the occasional backing vocal (usually on weezer covers)…
then i started singing with liliana andreano in january 2008…
she taught me how to sing perfectly in tune…
but because i didn’t fuck her, we went our separate ways…
by this point, i had finally learned how to sing…
and i was able to sing with enough verve to inspire the entire ensemble to sing along…
my drummer adam rifaat was a pitch-perfect harmony singer…
and my bassist ames wasn’t so bad either…
then i started playing with the fragnito brothers (who both fancied themselves singers)…
(roboray wasn’t quite as good as riff as a singer but he could hold his own)
(unfortunately he didn’t know when to shut up and let me handle the vocals)
