up until january 2007, i had a merrill lynch bank account.

the old man (a merrill lynch financial advisor) controlled my finances.

in june 2005 (after college graduation), i willfully drained the account.

i was aiming for a financial “tabula rasa”.

i never had any idea how much money i had.

all the money i earned went into the account.

but i never monitored the account.

instead i had the old man’s credit card and charged it at will.

i had his visa card until spring 2006.

it was stolen in the springfield bally total fitness locker room the day after i got stoned for the first time in years.

i was a 21-year-old harvard graduate and i was still living with my parents.

i didn’t have the chutzpah to ask him to give me another one of his visa cards.

i bet richard wagner would’ve been shameless enough to ask him.

so from spring 2006 – winter 2006 i was consistently “in the red”.

constantly in “overdraft”. i moved down to the family beach house at chadwick beach island.

i was constantly broke.

the old man would routinely refill my bank account to save me from overdraft.

my mother would mock me for my financial dependence.

(she said she was sick of “saving my ass”…)
