“beginner’s luck” (themes)

(written ‘winter 2008’)

(i remember brainstorming the basic melody while at the ‘harvard club of NYC’ with cheryl lynn)

“part 1” was composed in a corporate restroom
(BGC Partners NYC)
(after an early-morning wake-n-bake)

section B was composed after attending a jeff taylor concert at rockwood music hall in late spring 2008

section C is a pale imitation of creedence clearwater revival

section D is a reprise of the tagline for the ‘fireworks’ chorus

the first ones make the rules
(a courageous defendant as ‘sacrificial lamb’)

bad case of beginner’s luck…
(crucify the celebrities!)

(jogabop earth logo)

(first released as closing track of 2009 album “tabula rasa”)

(bandcamp page:)

(closing track of “the welfare state”)

(meticulously scored)
(but i’m dissatisfied with the ‘tabula rasa’ version)
(and the song as a whole did not age well)

(i should just keep the first part)
(as the “uncle tony fantasy” about winning the lottery)
