by january 2012, i had moved from my parents’ basement to my grandmother’s attic. Β the old man lived in his own parents’ attic until his late-20s (just as the mother’s brother formerly lived in the very same attic i was currently occupying)…
i’d wanted to move in with the old man’s mother but his brother and sister were still living there. Β and back in october 2010, i had told him off to such a frightening degree that he vowed never to speak to me again. Β which meant that his sister and mother weren’t going to talk to me again either…
i was forever paranoid during this period in my life. Β still on probation, i hadn’t yet reported to the probation officer my recent arrest for simple assault (even though i was supposed to mail them a report each month). Β i was drinking more heavily than ever (even though i still had no job nor means of income).
then one evening the house across the street was broken into (for the second time that month). Β fearing that the police would come question me for the robbery, i hid out in the attic all night…
