i devised the lyrics first (while sitting at work)
the steady torrent of words reduced me to tears of self-satisfaction…
the chord changes for “quicksand” implied infinite possibilities
(it was 3 weeks before i settled on a final draft of the chord progression)
in finalizing the chord progression, i close the book on the songwriting process (all else can be improvised)
the title comes from the line in the song ‘you’d better bury me in the sand’…
