(local 269 a “jazz club”?)
(according to newspaper article posted on their window)

(black mgmt lookalike in band before us)
(he wants to be me so badly)
(with a good socratic lead guitarist)
(and solid bassist / drummer)

(bit my tongue real bad right before taking stage)
(because i was chewing gum)
(at least that got the gum out of my mouth)

(bart tried introducing us)
(just like liliana did at 169 bar)
(it’s MY fucking show!!!)
(and i also let both of them do their own songs at my show)
(which both sorta fell flat)

(i was trying to understand the irish-accented soundman)
(just like the missing raven-haired bartender who first gave me jenny’s contact info)
(he was talking to me about having someone in our entourage pass around a tip jar)
(which actually garnered me a few dollars)
(i didn’t bother counting but buc senior reminded me to take it)

‘zero’ (the best song of the night) is missing entirely
because i opted to put my video camera on a tilted monitor
because we have no fans

michael buck coulda done that for me
(and even bart has a filmmaker friend)
(think ‘zack and miri make a porno’)

(i played the show thinking my camcorder was destroyed)
(again…)

(that definitely affected my performance)

(and my new iphone was in the hands of some random spanish dudes…)

(and rob noted my voice was hoarse after the first song…)

(my speaking voice at least…)

(same hispanic dude from bar east telling me to “curl cord around strap” to prevent me from stepping on it)

(that was actually good advice)

(ala rhino hamilton telling me to wear my strap properly back in high school…)

(because i have “no common sense”)

(he also offered to film)

(he handed it off to his friend)

(just like it was good i got the video on my iphone instead)

(better angle)

(front n center for ‘newfound heroes’)

(who gave it to me after ‘newfound heroes’)

(and i gave it to the bartender who propped it up perfectly)

well at least you got ‘newfound heroes’ on film…

(also broke my high E string)
(at the end of ‘weirdos’)

(and i didn’t have another one…)

(so i used bart’s fender strat for every song after ‘weirdos’)

(starting with ‘hannah montana’)

(which bart messes up the end of each verse)

(rob noted we were out of sync in ‘never say no’)

(but ‘don juan’ was OK)

(mike buccarelli can relate)
(he had the same guitar teacher)
(then we played my go-to cover song ‘get back’)
(which was pretty good)
(and bart played ‘i got this world’ and ‘not for me’ solo)
(and i even played ‘my will’ and ‘lonely little boys’)
(they sounded great)
(without rob knowing them)
(bill ard liked ‘lonely little boys’)
(these weren’t filmed)

(i shoulda filmed them)

(it was too spontaneous)

(I need to be removed from my audience)

(jenny wouldn’t even give me a free drink)

(saw the cup on top of empty draft)

(like a bitter middle-aged plain jane schoolteacher that eternally curses me)

(she wouldn’t even acknowledge me after the show)

(what happened to the cute black irish bartender???)

(or all the people there for the 101.9 event???)

(because we didn’t bring in enough fans for a saturday night?)

(like the hip-hop ICE idiots that followed us???)

(ICE: ‘in case of emergency’)

(all blacks)

(at least our name was on the chalkboard outside)

(‘joga’)

except bill ard

who gets the e-mails from danny lavecchia

(and got incorrect time so he was there an hour and a half early)

(with a car service)

(and michael buccarelli and father drinking heavily)

(i can’t relate to them)

(their band is on hiatus?)

(soundman liked it)

(twice fixed my mic stand)

(…during the songs!)

(‘zero’ and ‘newfound heroes’)

(lead guitarist liked our set because i said his set was good)

(i sung myself hoarse)

(because i haven’t performed with drums in over a month)

(my falsetto was totally gone in ‘never say no’)

(soundman who loved the set)

(what was his accent?)

(was he just gay?)

(tattooed girl)

(soundman even gave us some extra time)

(took ICE long enough to get onstage anyway)
