old norse: ‘hall of the slain’
(located in “asgard”)
(groove recorded during summer 2009)
chung chums (larnald and the professor) planted the idea of “valhalla” in my brain when we fantasized about an ideal brooklyn pad once the professor returned from europe…
(this never came to fruition…)
the rampant popularity of MGMT’s music among hot teenage girls (particuarly christine hauer) inspired me to dabble in electronica…christine that she “thought of me” whenever she listened to their music (based on a mistaken notion / according to her the members “supposibly” went to harvard)…
it’s ‘back to basics’ song…wrote the introductory music after dinner one weeknight…i was trying to write a theme for ancient egypt…(as the professor had recently envisioned me as an egyptian pharaoh traveling back in time to perform a concert for my subjects)…the motif was heavily reliant on slide guitars and contained allusions to my earlier instrumental “six feet under”…
the coda is meant to be physically stimulating in the vein of a led zeppelin rocker
(another wagnerian rock group ultimately reliant on scandinavian mythology)
