(written by ‘irving berlin’)
(who was jewish, mind you)
(and 53 years old)
(in the midst of WWII)
(and he wrote it in california no less!)
(new year 1941?)
(there was light snowfall in california)
(the ‘bing crosby’ version is the best-selling musical single of all time)
(over 50 million singles sold)
(the first version was recorded ’29 may 1942′)
(the version heard today was recorded ’19 march 1947′)
(because the 1942 ‘master’ was damaged due to frequent use)
(‘bing crosby’ was 39 years old when he originally recorded the song)
(and 44 years old when he recorded the ‘modern version’)
(this is one of the first songs my guitar teacher ‘don juan’ taught me)
(he ‘jazzed up’ the chords for me in “Cmajor”)
(but it was meant to be a ‘solo guitar instrumental’)
(that i could play for the family @ ‘christmas’)
