“risky business” (origins)

(written + recorded in ‘fall 2005’)

(based intro guitar riff off a pattern taught to me by ‘don juan rodrigo’)

(one of the ‘top 10’ initial ‘finest hour’ tracks)
(i probably started writing it in ‘fall 2004’)
(based upon a descending bassline in ‘Amajor’)
(included on spring 2006 debut ‘finest hour’)
(track 3)

(meaning i had just turned 21)
(with a harvard degree to boot)
(and back in watchung with time to kill)
(it seems to me i was attempting a re-write of pink floyd’s “time”)
(using don juan’s chord progression)
(although the descension in Ablues more closely resembles the beatles’ “lucy in the sky with diamonds”)
(and then i was probably going for ‘supertramp’ (or ‘late beach boys’) vibe in the choruses)
(i liked the guitar solo)
(even ‘robel’ my heavy-metal fellow guitar salesman thought the guitars sounded good)

(this was one of the original ‘top 10’ songs i was recording for ‘halloween 2005’)
(with the new dell computer and cubase recording equipment)
(before i learned about drum sampling)
(later i added drums and bass)
(it was one of my first ‘drum’ tracks)
(though i think i added drums to ‘finest hour’ first)
(and sent the results to ‘little eddie’)
(who agreed that the drums took songs ‘to a new level’)
