*brutus*

.

/ˈbruːtəs/

.

*often referred to as brutus*

.

(“85 BCE” – “23 OCTOBER ’42 BCE'”)
(died @ ‘age 43’)

.

(“marcus junius brutus the younger” was a politician of the ‘late roman republic’)

(after being adopted by his ‘uncle’ he used the name quintus servilius caepio brutus, but eventually returned to using his ‘original name’)

(he is best known in ‘modern times’ for taking a leading role in the assassination of ‘julius caesar’)

(‘brutus’ was close to ‘general julius caesar’ (who was leader of the ‘populares’ faction))

(however, caesar’s attempts to assume greater ‘power’ for himself put him at (even ‘greater’) odds with the ‘roman elite’ (the ‘equestrian class’? / aka ‘equites)  and members of the ‘senate’ (being the ‘most prestigious’ class in the roman ‘5 class’ social construct))

(‘brutus’ eventually came to oppose ‘caesar’ and fought with the ‘optimate faction’, led by (‘pompey (‘apparently not so) great’) against caesar’s forces in ‘caesar’s civil war’)

(‘pompey’ was defeated at the ‘battle of pharsalus’ in ’48 BCE’, after which ‘brutus’ surrendered to ‘caesar’, who granted him ‘amnesty’)

(however, the underlying political tensions which led to the ‘war’ had not been (sufficiently) (?) resolved)

(due to caesar’s increasingly ‘monarchical behavior’, several ‘senators’ (calling themselves “liberators’) plotted to ‘assassinate’ him)

(they recruited ‘brutus’ (who took a leading role in the ‘assassination’, which was carried out successfully on ’15 march 44 BCE’)

.

“ASSASSINATION” –>
(‘arabic roots’>)

killing of a prominent person for either ‘political’ or ‘religious’ reasons (or ‘for payment”))

.

(“just your average ‘tuesday’)

(or not?)

(‘assassination’ of ‘caesar’)
(he definitely earned the ‘assassinated’ terminology)
(rather your average ‘pleb’)

(the ‘senate’ (at the request of the consul ‘mark antony’) granted ‘amnesty to the ‘assassins’)

(in other words, ‘brutus’ had been ‘granted amnesty’ TWICE in his relatively short life)

(first being ‘caesar’ himself)

(proto-christ ‘forgiveness’ as a ‘primary ‘christian virtue’)
(what do you think ‘jesus’ and ‘caesar’ would talk about?)

(a ‘proto-crucifixion’?)

(however, a ‘populist uprising’ forced ‘brutus’ and his brother-in-law + (‘fellow assassin’) ‘gaius cassius longinu’s, to leave the “‘CITY’ OF ‘ROME'”)

(in ’43 BCE’, caesar’s ‘grand-nephew’ (‘consul gaius octavian caesar’) immediately after taking office, passed a ‘resolution’ declaring the ‘conspirators’ (including ‘brutus’) murderers)

(“well…technically they WERE murderers…but that’s neither ‘here’ nor ‘there’)

(this led to the ‘liberators’ civil war’, pitting the ‘erstwhile supporters’ (aka ‘former supporters’) of ‘caesar’ (under the ‘2nd triumvirate’, wishing both to gain ‘power’ for themselves and avenge his death, against those who opposed him)

(former supporters of ‘living caesar’)
(and current ‘supporter’ of ‘his ‘ghost’)

(‘octavian’ combined his troops with those of ‘antony’, and together they decisively defeated the outnumbered armies of ‘brutus’ + ‘cassius’ at the ‘battle of philippi’ sometime in ‘october 42 BCE’)

(“what IS this?  sounds an AWFUL LOT like a ‘popularity contest’)
(is this all it ‘amounts to’?)
(and you have the ‘nerve’ (or ‘balls’) to call this ‘history’?)
(wow!)

(after the battle, ‘brutus’ committed suicide)

(a gentile ‘judas’)

(“kinder and gentler”)

(‘caesar’ as ‘gentile jesus’?)
