father of JFK
(outlived his sons ‘JFK’ + ‘RFK’)
in 1938, president franklin roosevelt appointed joseph kennedy the US ambassador to great britain.
kennedy supported prime minister neville chamberlain’s policy of appeasement with the nazi government in germany.
he did not support US involvement in WWII.
he believed that “democracy was finished” in europe.
in the face of public outcry in the united states, he submitted his resignation as ambassador to great britain in 1940.
he was determined that his son ascend to the united states presidential throne.
he invested his highest hopes in joseph (until his 1944 death).
then he invested his hopes in jonathan.

JACQUELINE KENNEDY

wife of JFK
married aristotle onassis in 1968
(she was 39 / he was 62)
onassis was a greek shipping magnate
jackie was onassis’s second wife. his first son alexander died in a plane crash in 1973. he was 25 years old. his daughter christina (1950 – 1988) blamed her brother’s death on the “kennedy curse”. onassis’s first wife died of a drug overdose in 1974. onassis died of respiratory failure in 1975. christina died in 1988 of a pulmonary edema (a side effect of diet + sleeping pills).
jackie died of cancer @ age 64

EDWARD KENNEDY
(1932 – 2009)
(younger brother of JFK)
massachusetts senator from 1962 – 2009
in 1964, edward was the passenger in a private aero commander 680 plane flying in bad weather from washington to massachusetts. it crashed into an apple orchard in massachusetts. the pilot and a kennedy aide were killed.
kennedy suffered a severe back injury.

(born 1957)
(daughter of john f kennedy)
in 1975, the 18-year-old caroline visited london to complete a 9-month art course at sotheby’s auction house.
she was hosted by MP hugh fraser.
a member of the IRA planted a car-bomb in a car she was supposed to be traveling in with fraser.
the bomb was meant for fraser.
they were not in the car when the bomb exploded.
she graduated from radcliffe college in 1980
