"with a little luck"*development*

(opening track of ‘side 2’ of 1978 ‘paul mccartney + wings’ album “london town”)

(released before the album as a single on ’20 march 1978′)

(with b-side “backwards traveller / cuff link”)

(hit #1 in the united states)
(and #5 in the UK)
(interesting trend)
(after “mull of kintyre” became the best-selling single in UK history)
(why?)

(it became one of my favorite songs in ‘summer 2004’)
(at harvard i started delving hardcore into paul mccartney’s solo career)
(only further isolating myself from everyone around me)
(the track is nostalgic but limp)

(in Emajor)
(with nostalgic synths)

(i used to use it as a ‘vocal warmup” song)
(because it went up to “G#4” in the melody)
(with a few full-voice “B4” notes in ad-libs)
(that seem to flow so effortlessly from mccartney)

(i first learned to play acoustic rendition in “fall 2017”)
(the first line ‘rhymes’ “help it out” and “whole damn thing work out”)
(make an argument against “song copyrights”)
(in the digital age, the ‘original’ writer of the song can be easily verified)
(let the public decide which is the “best” version of the song at present)
(i just changed the first line to “with a little luck we’ll erase all doubt…)

“we can make this whole damn thing work out…”

(that’s a definite improvement)
(by any standard)

(into ‘we can work it out”)
