i got the sense that the way seinfeld was laughing / putting his head down projecte a sense of duty to ‘laugh’.
and then his overly precise hand movements to the tabletop was his ‘YM zen way’ of masking anxiety. or maybe im overly cognizant of what can pass for ‘fake laughter’ being that i haven’t genuinely haughed in years.
whatever combination of neuro-transmitters are present in genuine laughter were not present here. not even saying they are both ot great comics, but the pressure to laugh is ever present.
i’d love to see a series where he lulls in his ‘fellow comedians’ who expect a mutual love-fest until gradnaully his ‘mild asperger mode’ is activated and he stops making an attempt to force polite laughter after his guest tells a joke. he’ll start going to far as to make references to why his guest never accomplished anything in their careers
all his laughter has to be involuntary. at the end of the series, have some body language experts review the tapes to determine whether or not it was genuine laughter
