On 8 January 2021, Minister of Environment of Egypt met with COP26 President, Alok Sharma.[6]

Ahead of the summit, many people[who?] criticized the freedom of expression in Egypt, and to what extent it would be possible to protest.[7] Also, many people[who?] criticized on the climate crisis happening in Egypt.[8]
