-my first funeral was for my friend’s mother sylvia malchow when i was 9 years old-

she died of cancer
(started growing in her ‘breasts’)
it was the first time i’d attended an open-casket wake and i found it a profoundly ghoulish tradition…
one of the crowley cousins (tommy) died of cancer in fall 2010.
the wake was held at the piscataway funeral home “sheehan’s”.
judging from their television commercials, they seemed a veritable family business with patriarch sheehan (1909 – 1987) founding the funeral home…
