“DUAL PIXEL PDAF”
.
Dual Pixel Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF) is a camera technology that uses a camera’s pixels to focus on a subject:
How it works
Dual Pixel PDAF splits each pixel into two photodiodes, which receive light from different angles.
The camera compares the phase differences between the images from each photodiode to calculate the focus distance.
Benefits
Dual Pixel PDAF can:
Focus quickly and accurately
Measure the distance of objects in every frame
Track moving subjects in video and still modes
iPhone 11s
The iPhone 11s main camera uses a new generation sensor with full dual-pixel PDAF coverage.
PDAF is a passive technology, along with contrast, that uses light emitted by the scene.
Laser AF is an active technology that emits a laser beam towards the scene.
