Turn Attention Aware features on or off on your iPhone or iPad Pro – Apple Support
3-3 minutes
With Attention Aware features, iPhone and iPad models with Face ID can check whether you’re paying attention to your device and automatically take action.
This works, using the TrueDepth camera,* even if you don’t enroll in Face ID and can include features like:
When you’re looking at your device, your display won’t dim until you stop looking at your device.
When you’re looking at your device, it will lower the volume of your alerts.
The Face ID and Passcode screen, showing Require Attention for Face ID and Attention Aware Features turned on
If you don’t want to use these features, open the Settings app, tap Face ID & Passcode, and turn off Attention Aware Features.
The TrueDepth camera is available on iPhone X or later except for iPhone SE, and on iPad Pro 11-inch, iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd through 6th generations), and iPad Pro 13-inch.
Use Face ID to securely unlock your iPhone or iPad, authenticate purchases, sign in to apps, and more.
Use notifications on your iPhone or iPad.
