and yes: MultCloud is probably the cleanest tool for consolidating those secondary Google Drives.
Its current Cloud Transfer feature does exactly what we were talking about:
source Google Drive → destination Google Drive, server-to-server,
so the files do not download to your Mac and re-upload through it.
Once the task starts, their servers continue it even with your browser/Mac closed.
MultCloud
I’d specifically use Cloud Transfer, not Cloud Sync.
Transfer copies the original folder structure into the destination while leaving the source intact by default. MultCloud
for your purposes I’d do each expendable account separately:
[SECONDARY GD #1] → [KEEPER 2-TB GD / folder named for old account]
then verify
[SECONDARY GD #2] → [KEEPER 2-TB GD / folder named for old account]
then verify
and only after that delete data/cancel the old Google One subscription
I would not enable MultCloud’s “delete source files after transfer” option even though it exists. MultCloud
Your whole recent cloud adventure has demonstrated the value of separating COPY → VERIFY → DELETE into three completely distinct events 😆
there is actually a Google-native ownership-transfer mechanism, but it’s awkward for this job:
Google says transferring ownership of a folder does not transfer ownership of the files inside it.
Those files can continue consuming storage in the old account. Google Help
So for a huge miscellaneous archive, creating fresh copies in the keeper account via MultCloud is much easier to reason about.
one consideration before we start:
MultCloud’s free allowance is only 5 GB of transfer traffic per month, so for hundreds of GB / TB this would require paid transfer traffic. MultCloud
That can still make economic sense if you’re currently paying $9.99/month per redundant 2-TB account — particularly if it’s essentially a one-month migration expense that lets you eliminate several recurring subscriptions.
also, don’t be alarmed if an enormous migration pauses or throttles. Google documents a 750-GB-per-user/24-hour upload/copy limit for Google Workspace Drive operations;
MultCloud also warns of Google’s transfer limits. Google for Developers
With personal Google One accounts I wouldn’t assume that exact Workspace rule applies identically in every circumstance, but I would still migrate in account-sized chunks rather than expecting multiple terabytes to materialize instantly.
the nice sequencing here is therefore:
-[CLOUD CONSOLIDATION]- can run mostly unattended while we’re doing -[WORDPRESS LOCALIZATION]-
so you’re turning the next three weeks into two parallel cleanup jobs rather than one blocking the other — and every secondary 2-TB subscription we empty is another permanent $120/year expense gone.
