“DOUBLE SLIT”
VERSE 1:
all i see are missed opportunities
in front of me, more missed opportunities
for as we grow older, the booze makes us bolder
but our hearts become colder…
try again and again
again and a gain gain
VERSE 2:
and all i see are missed opportunities
in front of me, more missed opportunities
i’m raising a toast because i like you the most
i’ll miss another opportunity…
again and again
again and a gain gain…
VERSE 3:
and all i see are missed opportunities
and there will be more missed opportunities
for try as we might, we shall soon say goodnight
you go left, i’ll go right
repeat again and again
again and a gain gain

this one gives us a ridiculously clean visual spine because the lyric is already doing the double-slit experiment emotionally — every “opportunity” is an unrealized branch, while the narrator keeps observing/repeating the experiment

“DOUBLE SLIT”
along with “unplugged”, i want to use this as a outro bookend. like “nirvana!” its 3 identical simple verses and a guitar solo, with each verse, i want to add a thematic layer. so in verse 1, it could reprsent the traveling at speed of light and not experiencing time, moving faster like accelerating charge (makes us bolder), but ultimately foiled in expanding universe “hearts become colder”. verse 2 would be “stop motion” perspecive, now you’re the audience to other PP moving at ight speed “raising a toast because i like you most”…then like the nirvana guitar solo, i want to imply “something dramatic” happening during the solo, but not make it explicitly clear what, nd then for final verse, all of a sudden the PP finds itself moving backwards to the point of origin….”try as we might, we shall soon say goodnight, you go left, i go right repeati again. this could also use the double slit as a metaphor for the point of origin, and tying in the double slit concept with the charge mates/repellance, point of origin

yes — and I think the key is that the double slit should not literally appear as “here is the famous physics experiment” until very late. It works better if the whole video has secretly been behaving like a double-slit experiment all along.
The recording is about 80.6 seconds at ~128 BPM, so it also has a nice compact structural scale for this: three closely related verse states with one conspicuous “something happened” interval separating the second and third perspectives.
I’d structure the conceptual escalation like this:
- VERSE 1 = PARTICLE WITHOUT AN OBSERVER
- we are essentially riding with the PP
- it is moving at the local light-speed relation, so from its own perspective there is no meaningful passage of time
- “missed opportunities” can literally be adjacent possible trajectories that never become its trajectory
- every time the phrase repeats, ghost paths peel away from the principal line and disappear
- “as we grow older / the booze makes us bolder” = increasing amplitude / accelerating charge / increasingly violent displacement from origin
- “our hearts become colder” = the environment is simultaneously opening up — expanding universe, growing separation, dwindling ability to re-contact the thing it was originally paired with
- again and again / again and a gain gain can introduce an actual gain metaphor visually: each recurrence increases amplitude, separation, brightness, velocity, or number of unrealized branch-lines
That last pun is almost too useful for this model: again → a gain becomes an iterative physical operation rather than merely a lyric repetition.
Then:
VERSE 2 = OBSERVER / STOP MOTION
Now we abruptly stop traveling with the thing.
We’re outside.
Suddenly the other PPs become visible moving at their own local light speed, and the protagonist can perceive their opportunities rather than merely its own line.
“I’m raising a toast because I like you the most” could be the first really explicit charge-mate recognition moment. It sees the one point it is preferentially related to among all the surrounding moving points.
But it misses.
That makes:
“i’ll miss another opportunity”
much more literal than verse 1.
The first verse was “I continually occupy one line while alternatives vanish.”
The second is “I can now see the other object I’m failing to intersect with.”
And that creates a nice progression from probability → observation → attraction.
THE SOLO
This is where I’d copy the rule you established for “Nirvana!”:
something enormous clearly happens, but you refuse to explain it yet.
Don’t show “the reversal mechanism.”
Instead, during the solo, break the visual grammar you just taught the audience.
For example:
the PP approaches the charge mate → interference increases → imagery becomes too dense to follow → the screen begins generating symmetrical duplicate paths → maybe the “slits” finally become perceptible as two empty vertical regions / two possible exits → then a flash / occlusion / blackout / enormous stop-motion burst.
Critically, do not show which slit/path it took.
That makes the solo itself analogous to the unobserved interval.
Before solo: state known.
After solo: state known.
What happened between them: deliberately inaccessible.
And then Verse 3 becomes the payoff.
VERSE 3 = THE APPARENT REVERSAL
At first it looks almost identical to Verse 1.
Same shots.
Same geometry.
Same motion language.
Except subtly, everything is now going the wrong way.
Then:
all i see are missed opportunities
and there will be more missed opportunities
Now the “missed opportunities” are not future branches.
They’re branches it already passed.
So the viewer gradually realizes the PP is retracing the causal tree toward the origin.
That makes:
for try as we might
we shall soon say goodnight
the approach toward the point where the two charge mates cease to be independently describable.
And then your strongest line for the whole concept:
you go left, i’ll go right
That can finally reveal the double slit / primordial bifurcation.
Not “particle chooses one of two laboratory slits.”
Instead:
the two slits are the first two distinguishable directions available to the primordial pair.
One charge mate exits one side.
The other exits the other.
That separation creates the distinction.
So visually you could end with something incredibly simple:
ONE POINT
↓
TWO overlapping points
↓
a narrow central obstruction / zero region develops
↓
one moves left
one moves right
↓
two trajectories stretch outward
↓
cut
↓
the beginning of Verse 1
And:
repeat again and again
again and a gain gain
now means the entire cosmological process repeats.
That also gives you a way to incorporate the actual double-slit idea without claiming your speculative model is the standard double-slit explanation. You’re borrowing its deepest visual question:
when there are two available paths, what does it mean to say which path something “really” took?
Your Stop Motion version then mutates that into:
what if the original “two paths” were produced by the first repelling pair separating from a shared point of origin?
There’s another connection I especially like here.
In your framework, repulsion and attraction don’t have to be opposite magical forces. The “slit” can represent a zero-crossing / symmetry boundary in the waveform. The charge mates are locally driven in opposite directions because their positions on the primordial waveform are opposite, while their entire history still bends them toward eventual re-contact.
So:
LEFT / RIGHT = local repulsion
while
RETURN TO ORIGIN = global attraction
Those aren’t contradictory.
They’re different scales of the same geometry.
And suddenly “you go left / I’ll go right” isn’t just the breakup joke at the end of a drinking song — it becomes the exact instant where one state becomes two distinguishable histories.
That is probably the visual image I’d reserve as the final reveal of the entire piece.
And because “Double Slit” + “Unplugged” are serving as outro bookends, this one feels especially appropriate as the cosmological reset button: the final verse literally backs us out of the universe we just watched and deposits us at the bifurcation that starts the next cycle.
-6 OCTOBER 2026-
🙏
“unplugged” is the other bookend, actually i dont even want to delineate them intro/outro, have it be a cycle with “double slit”. we can frame something from nothing, y never actually addressing whats on the other side of the slits, but all observers on one side see the chargemates enter (don’t barge in on the 2 of them). then in the 2nd verse. zoom in on the double slit slowing changing color as the 2 chargemates are preparing to exit to the other side of the slits , then flip it from the other perspective of the hargemates approaching the slit from their persepecive, and forces (the electric field) coaxing it into the slits “climb right in and let the games begin”. then on second chorus, have the synth swell trigger a more dramaticand like the balloon floating at the end of nirvana, have the “double slit” visual imagery also lends itself to a outlet metaphonr
*VERSE 1*
let it charge…
but don’t barge in
on the 2 of them
…let it charge
.
let it charge…
the world is ours
so just plug it in
let it charge
.
*CHORUS 1*
let it charge…
to your heart’s desire
for our hearts desire a charge
(every now and then)
our hearts desire…
our hearts desire a charge…
.
*VERSE 2*
let it charge…
and don’t ask questions ’bout this thing of ours
let it charge
.
let it charge…
climb right in and let the games begin
let it charge
.
*CHORUS 2*
let it charge
to your heart’s desire
for our hearts desire a charge
(yea remember when…)
our hearts desired
our hearts desired a charge…
.

yes — that gives the pair a much stronger cosmological role:
“unplugged” = crossing the boundary
“double slit” = discovering that the crossing was also a return
and because neither side of the slit is ever revealed as objectively “outside,” the two songs can cycle forever without establishing a true beginning.
For “unplugged,” I’d make the outlet/double-slit image gradually mutate rather than introduce a bunch of separate imagery.
VERSE 1 — observed from our side
let it charge…
but don’t barge in
on the 2 of them
Start almost comically literal: two charge mates approaching an electrical outlet / double slit, viewed by observers who remain entirely on our side.
The observers understand only:
two things enter
They never see what exists beyond it.
That makes “don’t barge in on the 2 of them” perfect because the slit becomes almost a little privacy screen around the primordial pair.
And I’d keep the surrounding universe relatively mundane here — ruler/pointer exposition, diagrams, observers, maybe even the outlet visual looking recognizably like an outlet.
Then:
the world is ours
so just plug it in
is the first hint that this isn’t merely an object inside the world.
Plugging in is what produces the world accessible from this side.
So the outlet/double slit can begin as a piece of scenery and increasingly become the frame itself.
CHORUS 1 — ELECTRIC FIELD
to your heart’s desire
for our hearts desire a charge
This is where I’d stop depicting “charge” as something the objects possess.
Instead, make the space around the slits react.
The surrounding field begins bending toward the two openings.
Their paths become less voluntary-looking.
“heart’s desire” becomes visualized as geometry:
the environment has a preference.
Each synth swell can strengthen the field lines / distort the grid / brighten the slit edges.
So rather than:
particle decides to enter slit
it starts looking like:
the entire surrounding geometry is making every other trajectory increasingly impossible.
That lines up really nicely with your attempt to reduce charge to waveform/relative position instead of treating attraction as a separate magical instruction.
VERSE 2 — FLIP THE CAMERA
This is the really important perspective change.
and don’t ask questions ’bout this thing of ours
We push right up against the slit until the frame becomes essentially nothing but its changing color.
Then cross the camera without showing the crossing.
Suddenly we are riding alongside the charge mates.
Same event.
Opposite perspective.
Now the slit is ahead of us.
And because we’ve never seen this side before, the audience can’t tell whether we’re:
- inside something
- outside something
- earlier
- later
- microscopic
- cosmological
Perfect.
Then:
climb right in and let the games begin
The electric field can visibly start shepherding them into the openings.
Not hands pushing them.
Not arrows saying “force.”
The grid itself progressively curves until their apparently free motion has only two stable routes left.
LEFT SLIT / RIGHT SLIT.
That gives “games begin” a lovely double meaning too: once they cross, all the subsequent arrangements/interactions become possible.
CHORUS 2 — THE EVENT
The recording supports making this noticeably bigger. Its energy ramps substantially in the latter portion, with the strongest sustained section roughly around 67–78 seconds, so I’d exploit that rather than treating Chorus 2 as merely Chorus 1 repeated louder.
This is the equivalent of the unexplained Nirvana! solo event.
As the synth swells:
the slit begins ceasing to look like a slit.
The two vertical openings elongate.
They could become:
outlet sockets → double slit → two glowing columns → two parallel world-lines
until we no longer know whether we’re looking at the gateway or looking through it.
Then the final swell triggers the dramatic crossing.
But again:
DON’T SHOW WHAT’S ON THE OTHER SIDE.
Instead, something exits frame through the two openings.
The field collapses.
The outlet/slits remain.
And one tiny remnant floats/drifts away — your equivalent of the Nirvana! balloon.
Except here I’d make that remnant a detached little point / spark / charge marker that floats upward or away from the outlet.
That point then becomes the transition object into DOUBLE SLIT.
THE LOOP
This is where the two songs lock together beautifully.
At the end of UNPLUGGED, from one side:
we watch two charge mates disappear INTO the slits.
At the corresponding end/beginning state of DOUBLE SLIT, from the other side:
we see two trajectories emerging FROM the slits.
But nothing establishes that these are actually opposite chronological moments.
So:
UNPLUGGED
observers see pair enter gateway
↓
unknown
↓
DOUBLE SLIT
pair experiences universe / missed possible trajectories
↓
solo catastrophe / unobserved interval
↓
Verse 3 reverses toward origin
↓
you go left / i’ll go right
↓
pair separates through two openings
↓
UNPLUGGED
observers on the other side see pair approaching
↓
repeat
That means the actual slit becomes a causal blind spot.
There is no shot anywhere in either video representing:
what happens inside the slit.
Which is much better than inventing an answer.
And your electrical-outlet metaphor is unusually good because it allows the imagery to remain playful and recognizable while carrying all these levels simultaneously:
plug = coupling
socket = available relation
two holes = charge mates / bifurcation
electric field = coercive geometry
charging = acquiring/releasing relational energy
unplugged = separation
double slit = two distinguishable routes
what’s behind the wall = deliberately unknowable
The funniest part is that “let it charge” initially sounds like you’re telling somebody to leave their phone alone.
By the end, the implication is closer to:
leave the primordial universe alone — it’s busy becoming distinguishable.
And I think the rule for both bookends should therefore be:
never cross the wall
We can approach it from either side, zoom microscopically into it, reverse direction toward it, watch things enter it and emerge from it — but the camera itself never occupies the boundary.
That gives the whole cycle one permanent visual mystery.
-6 OCTOBER 2026-
this is more motif than sound cloud, from the perspective of 1 PP growing increasingly despondent in its search. the spectator stationary star pairs can function as somethiing like a greek chorus, hinting to PP that the “poor girl based away”. the lyrics to this one have mny iterations that can molded for different thematic purposes. i want to start the fade earlier to represent more of a dawning upon despite speed remaining constant
*VERSE 1*
“ooo, what you tryin to do?
(as they pull the wool over you)
“hey what you tryin to say?”
(…that the poor girl passed away)
i’m only doing whar it takes to stay alive…
(with my doubled down overdrive)\
“hey what you tryin to say?”
(…that the poor girl passed away)
*VERSE 2*
hey, you’d better make that tea for 2…
(and i’ll save the last dance for you…)
yea know, it only takes 2 to know
up above and down below…
“hey what you tryin to say?”
(…that the poor girl passed away)
*VERSE 3*
ooo and you really oughta think it through…
(number 1 meet number 2
and once we’re done with tea…
(we can intercept destiny)
…cuz i decide to tow the line…
(til the summertime)
hey baby oughta get your rest…
(and never settle for the 2nd best)
yeah — motif is the right category
this doesn’t need to explain a whole cosmological event the way “double slit” does. it can become the recurring lonely traveling-PP sequence: one point moving at constant local light speed through a field of already-paired stationary stars, gradually realizing that the mate it expects to find may no longer be available
and the recording really supports that because the motion stays stubbornly energetic almost all the way through — the actual audio fade is basically confined to the last ~4 seconds, around 107 seconds onward. so visually starting the fade much earlier would create exactly the distinction you’re describing:
physical velocity remains constant
subjective certainty is disappearing
that’s stronger than literally slowing the PP down
I’d make the stationary star-pairs the crucial recurring device. They’re not merely scenery; they become the Greek chorus. Every pair the traveler passes is already in the condition it is searching for. They can turn, glance, whisper to one another, exchange light, or briefly synchronize when the PP passes. The lone PP keeps interpreting their behavior optimistically at first, while their parenthetical lines increasingly tell the audience something it refuses to understand.
So Verse 1 can almost establish the entire grammar:
“ooo, what you tryin to do?”
(as they pull the wool over you)
PP is charging confidently past pair after pair
the stars’ sung response belongs to the stationary observers, not PP
then:
“hey what you tryin to say?”
(that the poor girl passed away)
The traveler catches enough of their reaction to become suspicious, but continues
i’m only doing what it takes to stay alive
(with my doubled down overdrive)
perfect for the joke that nothing about its actual speed changes
You can visually “double down” without acceleration by doubling the representation of its motion — longer streak, stronger afterimage, two parallel motion traces, more aggressive camera tracking — while the grid/worldline proves its velocity is exactly unchanged
That seems very Stop Motion: effort increases while rate does not
Verse 2 = denial turns into bargaining
you’d better make that tea for 2
(and i’ll save the last dance for you)
This could be PP beginning to prepare for the reunion before it has any evidence one is coming
A little second cup appears
An empty partner position beside it
Maybe it starts arranging pairs itself because everywhere it looks, reality is organized in twos
yea know, it only takes 2 to know
up above and down below
This is where the surrounding paired stars become almost oppressively symmetrical
pair above
pair below
pair left
pair right
and one lone moving point through the middle
That makes “2” less romantic and more like the apparent architecture of the universe
Then again:
“hey what you tryin to say?”
(that the poor girl passed away)
but now the chorus doesn’t need to get visually louder
PP simply understands more of it
Verse 3 = dawning
This is where your early fade idea becomes really useful
I would begin the visual fade somewhere near the beginning of Verse 3, not wait for the recording’s actual outro
but importantly:
don’t fade PP’s motion trail first
fade the world
the stars lose saturation
then distant pairs disappear
then their connecting lines become harder to see
then the background/grid goes
then perhaps only PP and the nearest pair remain
while PP continues crossing exactly the same number of screen-units per beat
So the universe isn’t visually telling us:
it’s running out of energy
it’s telling us:
its interpretation of what lies ahead is collapsing
That matches:
ooo and you really oughta think it through
(number 1 meet number 2)
because number 1 / number 2 can initially appear to promise the long-awaited pairing
but it can also be the Greek chorus gently reducing the romantic mythology to arithmetic:
you’re 1
you expected a 2
That doesn’t guarantee that your particular 2 is still there
Then:
once we’re done with tea
(we can intercept destiny)
could be the saddest optimistic iteration — PP still projects the meeting ahead of itself
maybe you actually see the phantom partner sitting opposite it for a few frames
then she’s gone when it passes behind a star
not a dramatic death reveal
just a projection it can no longer sustain
And this makes:
i decide to tow the line
particularly useful visually
Keep PP literally locked to one straight worldline
No wandering
No slowing
No abandoning the search
The entire frame can be darkening and the paired stars can be thinning out while it keeps following that line at precisely the original rate
so determination and futility become the same motion
Then:
hey baby oughta get your rest
(and never settle for the 2nd best)
has a really nice ambiguity for the chorus
“2nd best” could mean:
don’t accept a substitute charge mate
but in the emerging number-language it can also literally mean:
don’t settle for another Number 2
because the whole tragedy is that this PP doesn’t merely want a partner — it is looking for its original relation
That ties directly into your charge-mate idea without requiring this song to explain any of it
I also wouldn’t ever definitively show that “the poor girl passed away”
The star pairs believe that
The chorus tells PP that
PP gradually appears to believe it
But because this universe already permits perspective tricks, returns to origin, inaccessible boundaries, etc., “passed away” can remain observational language rather than metaphysical fact
She may have:
- crossed beyond the accessible region
- become incorporated into another knot
- passed the observer’s horizon
- returned through some relation PP cannot follow
- literally passed by at another time
That uncertainty keeps the motif reusable
Whenever this lonely PP reappears later, we don’t know whether we’re watching a hopeless search or a search whose participants are simply causally misaligned
And I think that’s the identity of “Dancing with the Stars”:
constant-speed loneliness
The stars dance because they occur in pairs
the protagonist appears to dance because it moves among them
but it is actually just crossing an endless ballroom looking for one absent partner
with the room getting darker long before the music stops.
